Overview
Nordex has an exciting opportunity for the role of Wind Turbine Service Technician based near Douglas, South Lanarkshire. Contract Type: Permanent. Location: Douglas, South Lanarkshire. Hours: Our core hours are 40 per week (Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm) with a requirement to work overtime when required.
Our Service Technicians are also required to be available for any breakdowns and faults at the weekend, working on-call every 2nd or 3rd weekend (depending on the size of your team). Overtime is paid at time and a half, and you will receive an additional payment for the weekend you are on on-call.
Responsibilities
* Servicing and maintenance of Nordex wind turbines covering turbines around Douglas, South Lanarkshire area.
* Carry out general and specialised work including repairs, troubleshooting and fault-finding to ensure high turbine availability.
* On-site performance analysis and action plan implementation.
* Work closely with Technicians and Back Office staff to perform on-the-job demonstrations.
* Support on-site single turbine improvements on problem turbines and provide on-site software & hardware updates.
* Support online and phone technical support and create reports on turbine or turbine components.
* Parameter disabling and alarm change handling when necessary.
What are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have experience in the Mechanical / Electrical industry and be able to demonstrate knowledge of reading electrical, hydraulic and mechanical diagrams. You will be mechanically or electrically trained through time-served or a technical college qualification at least NVQ Level 3 or equivalent. You should be able to identify and define problems, extract crucial information from technical data, and develop workable solutions.
* Ability to adapt to an environment of continuous change and different challenges.
* Positive attitude with a willingness to learn, lead and continuously improve.
* Computer literate and confident in using MS Office, in-house databases and workload management systems.
* Role involves working at heights up to 140m; fitness and the ability to pass a working at height test.
* Occasional travel including nights away from home; a full UK / EU Driving Licence is required.
