Job Summary

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Support Worker to join

our dedicated team in a children’s residential home in Birmingham. The role

involves supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural

difficulties (EBD) and other complex needs, while also mentoring and guiding

junior staff.

As a Senior Support Worker, you will act as a positive role model, provide

consistent care, and ensure the home environment is safe, supportive, and

nurturing.

Key Responsibilities

 Deliver high-quality care and support to children and young people in line

with individual care plans.

 Act as a shift leader, supervising staff and ensuring daily routines and

safeguarding standards are met.

 Support with care planning, risk assessments, and behaviour management

strategies.

 Mentor, guide, and support junior support workers and new staff members.

 Build trusting and positive relationships with children, promoting

independence, resilience, and life skills.

 Contribute to household management, including record-keeping,

administration, and maintaining a safe environment.

 Engage children in educational, recreational, and social activities that

promote growth and wellbeing.

 Liaise with families, professionals, and external agencies to support

children’s development.

 Take responsibility in the absence of the Deputy Manager or Registered

Manager.

Requirements

 Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a children’s residential setting.

 Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – essential.

 Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and Children’s

Homes Regulations.

 Experience in shift-leading, supervising, or mentoring staff.

 Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively in challenging

situations.

 Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.

 Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.

 Full UK driving license – desirable.

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential assistance to individuals in various settings, including group homes, assisted living facilities, and private residences. This role involves supporting clients with daily living activities, ensuring their safety and well-being, and fostering a positive environment that promotes independence and dignity.

Duties

* Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.

* Provide patient care by monitoring vital signs and observing changes in clients' conditions.

* Support individuals with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's care, dementia care, and autism through direct support and engagement.

* Maintain cleanliness and organization in living spaces to ensure a safe environment for clients.

* Assist with medication administration as per care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations.

* Engage in patient observation to identify needs or concerns and communicate effectively with healthcare professionals.

* Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe patient transfers when necessary.

* Participate in the development and implementation of individualized care plans tailored to each client’s needs.

* Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients.

Requirements

* Previous experience in home health, hospice care, senior care, or long-term care settings is preferred.

* Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is highly desirable.

* Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs is a plus.

* Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.

* Ability to perform heavy lifting when required for client assistance.

* Familiarity with patient monitoring techniques and vital sign assessment is beneficial.
