Aurora Meldreth Manor School is an IQM awarded, independent, specialist day school dedicated to providing a highly personalised learning environment for students aged 6 to 19 with a range of complex needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Moderate Learning Disabilities (MLD), Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD), autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, and other associated difficulties. Many of our students also have medical needs and sensory or physical impairments. Our approach is tailored to help students manage sensory overload, anxiety, low self-esteem, and challenges with transitions, often reflected in their behaviour. Our school boasts exceptional, fully inclusive facilities, including a Hydrotherapy pool and expansive outdoor learning spaces. We are lucky to have our own full therapeutic team who work closely with class leaders to create a child-centred curriculum that meets the needs of all learners. Due to continued growth and expansion, we are seeking a passionate and skilled HLTA/Behaviour Support Lead to join our NAS-accredited, specialist team. You will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our students and help improve their outcomes as they prepare for adult life. The role: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate HLTA – Behaviour Support Lead to join our dynamic team. This role will involve working closely with staff, students, and parents to ensure a positive and effective learning environment for all. If you have a strong commitment to supporting positive behaviour, promoting excellent attendance, and working collaboratively with a school community, we would love to hear from you! Key Duties: To support staff to proactively support the young people on a daily basis. Maintain an overview of risk and higher end behaviours ensuring that all physical interventions (RPI are reviewed and action to support the reduction of RPI is taken Monitor and report on attendance and punctuality across the site and actions taken to improve this as well as daily safeguarding checks. Support and supervise pupils throughout the school day whilst promoting independence, self-esteem and social inclusion; Give support to pupils, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning and experience a sense of achievement To support teachers with the behavioural management of groups and individuals within the whole class setting, so that teaching objectives are met and best use is made of teaching time To support the Assistant Headteachers/Head of School and governance by having a knowledge of systems and information that relates to behaviour, welfare and personal development. Work with the children and support their learning, providing further explanation where needed, and work towards meaningful qualifications. Please see the attached job description for the full breakdown of duties: Job Description Experience & Qualifications: Successful candidate are likely to demonstrate the following: Level 3 TA or prepared to work towards a HTLA qualification, Experience of working with SEND or a specialism Meet Higher Level Teaching Assistant standards Professional Standards for Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTA) Professional values and practice.docx Experience working with young people in a pastoral or safeguarding capacity Experience of working in a SEN setting (ASC and SEMH) and ability to apply ASC Strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures and risk management. Ability to analyse data to inform decision-making and intervention strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. Proficiency in using MIS systems such as Engage or MyConcern Full driving licence. What’s on offer?
