Network Engineer - R&D Infrastructure (Manufacturing) Location: Contract: Permanent
We are working on behalf of a global healthcare organisation to appoint a Network Engineer into their UK R&D function, based in Birmingham. This is a permanent role supporting infrastructure critical to both scientific research and manufacturing control systems.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the stability, performance, and security of all voice, data, video, and wireless network services across the site. Design, deploy and maintain LANs, WANs, WLANs, and VOIP networks
Monitor network performance and troubleshoot hardware/software issues
Maintain documentation of network architecture, service records, and configuration
Support industrial control networks and connected devices
Oversee hardware upgrades, endpoint connectivity, and equipment installation
Collaborate with IT, R&D and operational stakeholders to assess capacity and risk
Manage network security, backups, audits, and recovery processes
Proven experience in enterprise-scale network engineering across LAN/WAN/WLAN
Strong understanding of network security, capacity planning, and disaster recovery
Familiarity with SCADA, PLCs, or industrial control system integration
Competent in hardware troubleshooting and network testing procedures
Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, FMCG, automotive, or regulated manufacturing
Exposure to data privacy regulations or validated environments
Ability to support Audio/Visual systems and conferencing platforms
