What's involved with this role: Role: Category Manager Job Ref: QAD 1671/0804 Pay Rate: Competitive Market Rate Hours per week: 37 hours per week Contract Length: Anticipated 18 months Location: Reading A Category Manager is required to develop contracts as part of contract implementation, working closely with the contract management team. You will develop and implement Category Strategy for specific categories, balancing short and long-term objectives to meet business strategy and savings. We are seeking candidates with expertise in managing procurement activities within the public sector, particularly in construction projects. You will have experience in procuring various aspects of construction projects, including building, installation, process re-kits, utilities, factory settings, and sub-stations. You will be skilled in developing tendering strategies. NEC4 experience is essential. Key accountabilities: Support and execute strategic sourcing activities Enhance compliance Management and KPI tracking / Balanced Scorecard for contracts, working closely with the contract management team. Draft and complete all artefacts/Bid documents to support the Procurement and evaluation process Draft Call off Contract and work with the preferred suppliers to finalise the contracts Draft/update and complete management plans, obligations matrix, risk registers etc Draft and complete Outline Business Case procurement and Final Business Case award approvals documents including, liaising with appropriate boards and stakeholders. Key requirements Experience in delivering high value procurements. An understanding of, and experience in procuring across various categories NEC4 experience Knowledge of and experience in using Crown Commercial Service procurement frameworks Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams, bring together people and views to inform decision making. Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical people.
