Leicester Neonatal Services are seeking a compassionate and skilled Nursery specialist to join our multidisciplinary neonatal team.This role plays a vital part in supporting the developmental,emotional and practical needs of babies receiving neonatal care and their families. The Nursery specialist will work closely with the Neonatal nurses,doctors and allied health professionals to create a safe,nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment for neonates including those born prematurely or with complex medical needs. Yow will be supporting family-centred care, provide parent education (Supportive training, offering reassurance and knowledge STORK), promote bonding and attachment and contribute to the delivery of high quality neonatal services across Leicester. • Assist in the care of babies requiring special care, transitional care or neonatal intensive care in line with agreed care plans and competencies. • Promote comfort, developmental care and sensory support including positioning, handling and minimizing stress. • Support parents and carers to develop their confidence in caring for their baby including basic care, feeding support and bonding. • Provide emotional reassurance and practical guidance to families during admission, transfer and discharge. • Follow infection prevention policies. • Carry out routine observations, provide feeding support and other delegated tasks as appropriate to role and training. • Contribute to discharge preparation, supporting parent education and transition to home or community services. • Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, escalating concerns appropriately to registered staff. • Ensure accurate documentation in line with Trust standards. • Participate in training, competency development, supervision and appraisal, maintaining skills relevant to neonatal care. • Support quality improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining neonatal standards.
