Find out more about what it's like working at DfTc The Department for Transport’s Local Passenger Transport & Inclusion Directorate leads work to improve local journeys, putting people at the heart of transport planning. As an SEO, you’ll help deliver key policy priorities, supporting flexible, innovative approaches to local transport challenges. Working within the Bus Legislation and Franchising team, you’ll enable Local Transport Authorities to improve their bus services including through effective franchising and support the government’s wider Plan for Change. We expect all of our people to work flexibly and responsibilities will change and vary over time. You are likely to have a line manager and then separate activity managers for each project or policy area you work on. In the first instance, you will: Support the scoping of and the delivery of comprehensive guidance on franchising and support with stakeholder engagement in the preparation and delivery of a formal consultation;Develop and deliver the required Statutory Instrument to implement a key franchising measure of the Bus Services Act;Support the development and delivery of the bus franchising support fund, ensuring that it provides support to LTAs and meets ministerial expectations; andManagement of grant funding that support bus franchising.
