Overview

The Network Manager provides managerial leadership to the strategic networks designated as ODNs and, with support from the Head of the Strategic Network and the Transformation Delivery Team in NHSE SE, provides operational management. The Network Manager will lead a team and promote partnership working across constituent organisations to deliver agreed annual priorities.

The Strategic Networks are the link between providers and commissioners. Any recommendations given to both regional and ICB commissioners must follow the triple aim, including consideration of health inequalities in relation to health and wellbeing, ensuring high quality services within their specialities, and sustainable and efficient use of resources.

There are multiple posts available (1.5 WTE), and subject to the successful candidates, the strategic networks will be split into multiple work areas for the Network Managers.

The post holders will define current processes, facilitate discussions, and advise colleagues as to how best practice might be adopted in the definition of future processes, document those processes as they are agreed and oversee their delivery. There will be a requirement in some specialities for Strategic Networks to assist and support a mutual aid process.

Communicates and provides extraordinarily complex information to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. (verbal, written and numerical).


Responsibilities

* Deliver effective clinical flows through the provider system through clinical collaboration for networked provision of services.
* Takes a whole system collaborative approach to service provision, ensuring the safe and effective delivery of sustainable services across the patient pathway, adding value for all stakeholders.
* Improve cross-organisational multi-professional clinical engagement to improve pathways of care.
* Enable the development of consistent provider guidance and improved services to national standards, ensuring a consistent patient and family experience.
* Manage identified risk and escalate reporting while influencing mitigation.
* Focus on quality and effectiveness through facilitation of comparative benchmarking and audit of services with implementation of required improvements.
* Support the Head of Strategic Networks in delivering a strategy implementing national policy and best practice across the network area as appropriate.
* Supports capacity planning, activity monitoring and forecast planning across the sector in collaboration with Data Analytical staff and commissioning teams.

People Management

* Responsible for the day-to-day range of staff management matters, including supporting appraisals, development of staff, recruitment, and where necessary employee relations matters.
* Responsible for an individual's development on the job and team performance.


Information Management

* Develop and deliver information sharing systems.
* Develop the acquisition, organisation, provision and use of knowledge and information.
* Highlight exceptions and risks ensuring mitigating action is taken.
* Drafting reports summarising status on issues, appraising outcomes, and providing progress reports for the Head of Strategic Networks.
* Collate as required, qualitative and quantitative information and lead appropriate analysis to develop robust business cases and contribute to delivery of products and service improvement.
* Analyse, interpret, and present data to highlight issues, risks and support decision making.


Research and Development

* Plan, develop and evaluate methods and processes for gathering, analysing, interpreting, and presenting data and information
* Deliver projects to comply with key performance indicators, and best practice guidance.
* Coordinate Research & Development initiatives, delegating as appropriate.


Planning and Organisation

* Ensure projects, services and initiatives are delivered on time, to quality standards and in a cost-effective manner, adjusting plans as required.
* Provide recommendations to the Head of Strategic Networks on the strategic planning of projects, identifying interdependencies across projects/functions, potential impacts on wider organisation, resource requirements and building in contingency and adjustments as necessary.
* Determine the development of performance and governance strategies and the development and implementation of improvement programmes, in accordance with Service Sector priorities.
* Determine short, medium, and long-term business plans, achieving quality outcomes in collaboration with the Head of Strategic Networks.


Developing an excellent organisation

* To ensure health, safety, and wellbeing of all staff within the department.
* To ensure compliance with all confidentiality and governance requirements within the department.
* To always adhere to the NHS Managers Code of Conduct and any other relevant professional Codes of Conduct, including those of the host trust.


Policy and Service Development

* Responsible for proposing and drafting changes, implementation and interpretation to policies, guidelines, and service level agreements (SLAs) which may impact.
* Proposes changes to own project/service and make recommendations for other projects/service delivery.


Learning and Development

* Attend mandatory training updates as required.
* Undertake training as necessary in line with the development of the post and as agreed with the line manager as part of the personal development process.
* Achieve and demonstrate agreed standards of personal and professional development within agreed timescales.
* Identify own learning needs and jointly plan training requirements with your line manager
* Participate in the Trusts appraisal process to discuss how your role will help deliver the best possible care to our patients and help to deliver any changes in service.
