Main Duties and Responsibilities
The post‑holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
* Provide surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visit patients at home, check and sign repeat prescriptions, check and action lab results, and handle paperwork and correspondence timely.
* Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self‑referral or referred from other health care workers.
* Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems; screen for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
* Develop care plans with patients, provide counselling and health education, and record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes.
* Collect data for audit purposes, compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions, and prescribe in accordance with the practice formulary or generically when clinically appropriate.
* Admit or discharge patients from the caseload, refer to other care providers as appropriate, and contribute to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting.
* Maintain all relevant administration during normal working hours (9:00‑18:30), complete NHS and non‑NHS related reports, and ensure reports meet the needs of registered patients in a timely manner.
Home Visits
Carry out home visits as detailed in the home visit protocol, usually after morning surgery.
Duty Doctor
Participate in on‑call duties as part of a rota.
Working Relationships
All practice staff; PCN ARRS Staff; attached district nurses, health visitors, midwives, and retinal screening personnel.

Plowright Medical Centre serves a stable population of 6,800 appreciative patients in a semi‑rural area of Swaffham, with a branch surgery in Necton. The practice is part of the Swaffham and Downham PCN, with full support from a diverse healthcare team.
Contract and Compensation
Salary: £11,500 to £12,000 a session
Contract: Permanent
