Knebworth & Marymead Medical Practice is a modern, forward-thinking general practice operating across two well-established sites in Knebworth and South Stevenage, serving a diverse patient population of around 13,000 in both suburban and semi-rural settings.
We are a teaching and training practice, supporting GP trainees, medical students, nursing students, and other learners. We are looking to appoint an experienced and motivated Practice Nurse to join our friendly, supportive, and well-organised team.

The successful candidate will have experience in core areas such as cervical screening, childhood and adult immunisations, wound care, contraception advice, travel health, and infection prevention and control.

Main duties of the job
The Practice Nurse Will Work Across Both Sites, Providing a Broad Range Of Clinical Services In Line With National Guidance And Local Protocols. Duties Include:
* Acting as the immunisation lead for the practice, ensuring the safe and effective delivery of national and local vaccination programmes across all age groups
* Undertaking cervical screening and supporting well woman services
* Providing contraception services including pill checks and depot injections
* Delivering wound care, including suture and staple removal
* Offering travel health advice and administering travel vaccinations
* Conducting NHS Health Checks, immunisations, and health promotion interventions
* Supporting the implementation and monitoring of QOF, IIF, and local incentive schemes
* Maintaining accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with practice policies using SystmOne
* Chaperoning patients and assisting with minor procedures when required
* Supporting infection prevention and control practices across the surgery

Job Summary
The Practice Nurse will deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients as part of the wider clinical team. The role covers a broad range of general practice nursing duties, supporting the delivery of essential services, chronic disease management, and health promotion.
The postholder will work across both sites of Knebworth & Marymead Medical Practice, serving a diverse patient population of around 13,000 across suburban and semi-rural communities. As a teaching and training practice, we regularly support nursing students, GP trainees, medical students, and other learners, and we encourage all team members to pursue professional development and areas of special interest.
The Practice Nurse will contribute to the achievement of clinical targets, including those within QOF, IIF, local enhanced services, infection prevention and control, and other practice objectives, ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centred care at all times.
Clinical Responsibilities
Act as the immunisation lead for the practice, ensuring safe and effective delivery of national and local vaccination programmes across all age groups
Undertake cervical screening and support well woman services
Provide contraception services including pill checks and depot injections
Deliver wound care, including suture and staple removal, dressing changes, and ulcer management
Offer travel health advice and administer travel vaccinations in line with national guidelines
Conduct NHS Health Checks, immunisations, and health promotion interventions
Support the implementation and monitoring of QOF, IIF, and local incentive schemes
Assist in chronic disease management where appropriate, working within the scope of professional competence
Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with practice policies, using SystmOne templates and coding
Chaperone patients and assist with minor surgical procedures when required
Support infection prevention and control practices across the surgery, acting as a resource for colleagues and ensuring compliance with policy

Maintain NMC registration and uphold the professional standards of practice and behaviour as set out in the NMC Code
Participate in personal continuing professional development and training activities to maintain clinical competence and expand scope of practice where appropriate
Engage in clinical governance processes, including audits, service reviews, and reflective practice, to support continuous quality improvement
Ensure care is delivered in line with agreed clinical protocols, evidence-based best practice, national guidance, and legal frameworks
