Electrical Assembly Technician

The Electrical Assembly Technician plays a critical role in building high‑quality electrical systems and assemblies that are ready for seamless integration, test, and deployment. You will take engineering intent – schematics, wiring diagrams, and build documentation – and turn it into precise, reliable, right‑first‑time electrical builds that underpin safe and consistent product delivery.

This Role Combines

* Hands‑on electrical assembly – building panels, looms, junction boxes, cabinets, and electrical sub‑assemblies to defined standards
* Cross‑disciplinary integration – working closely with mechanical and manufacturing teams to ensure clean, serviceable, compliant installations
* Quality‑driven production support – maintaining workmanship standards, identifying issues early, and supporting rework or retrofit activities

What You Will Be Doing

* Assemble and wire electrical systems – Build electrical panels, looms, junction boxes, cabinets, and sub‑assemblies using schematics, wiring diagrams, GA drawings, and work instructions to guide accurate, repeatable assembly
* Install and terminate electrical components – Fit power supplies, PLCs, I/O modules, relays, terminals, drives, sensors, and connectors. Cut, strip, crimp, label, and terminate cables to defined standards and wiring schedules
* Carry out electrical testing and fault‑finding – Perform continuity checks, insulation resistance tests, and basic functional testing. Support power‑up and pre‑commissioning activities, diagnosing and rectifying wiring or component faults as required.
* Support mechanical‑electrical integration – Work closely with mechanical technicians to ensure electrical routing, access, and interfaces are clean, safe, and serviceable, including light mechanical fitting such as DIN rail, trunking, brackets, and enclosures
* Maintain quality, safety, and compliance – Build in accordance with electrical standards (e.g., BS/IEC), follow EHS procedures including safe isolation and lock‑off, and ensure neatness, traceability, and workmanship standards are consistently met. Raise non‑conformances and highlight unclear documentation
* Support production and delivery activities – Assist with rework, retrofit, and refit activities on deployed or returned systems. Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Design to resolve build issues and feedback improvements to drawings, harness designs, and work instructions. Support packaging and preparation for shipment when required

Who You Are

* Experienced in electrical assembly or panel wiring – You have hands‑on experience in industrial or production environments, confident reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, and comfortable using hand tools, crimp tools, torque tools, and basic test equipment
* Detail‑driven and quality‑focused – You take pride in neat, traceable, right‑first‑time wiring and understand how build quality impacts downstream integration, test, and customer delivery
* Comfortable in production environments – You can work to build schedules, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain a clean, organised, safe workspace
* A practical, collaborative team member – You work well with mechanical, electrical, and production colleagues, communicate clearly, and take ownership of your build output

Desirable

* Electrical qualification or apprenticeship (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent)
* Experience with control panels, automation systems, or industrial/mobile equipment
* Familiarity with PLC‑based systems or complex looms
* Experience supporting low‑volume or bespoke builds transitioning into repeatable production
* Basic electrical fault‑finding and rework capability

Salary

The salary varies for this position as we are recruiting in multiple regional locations and job grades. The salary process is based on skills, abilities, and experience required.
