Team Leader Therapeutic Radiographer – OXFORD CANCER CENTRE

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, compassionate, & highly motivated Team Leader Therapeutic Radiographers to join our friendly team at the OXFORD CANCER CENTRE.

Patients are at the heart of everything we do, and we are looking for Radiographers who are dedicated to delivering care with both compassion and respect. Our department is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including Varian Halcyons, Varian TrueBeams incl. 6DoF, RGSC and SRS capability, Siemens CT GoSims, and HDR all networked by ARIA. We are a multi‑site centre with satellites in Swindon & Milton Keynes – 3 sites, 1 team!

Main duties of the job

To be primarily responsible for leading and co‑ordinating the day‑to‑day clinical operations of the linac in accordance with the policies of the department and trust.

Manage a caseload of patients, ensuring patients have accurate and consistent planning and treatment.

Liaising with the multidisciplinary team.

Support and train members of the team to maintain and develop professional and personal skills and standards.

Assist the Pre‑Treatment and Treatment Lead Radiographers and Radiotherapy Satellite Operational Manager in the implementation of change within the radiotherapy service.

Provide expert advice on treatment procedures and treatment‑related side effects and their management to patients and their carers.

To liaise with other disciplines to ensure total coverage in all aspects of patient care.

Person Specification


Education/Qualifications

* oHCPC registration
* oBSc Radiotherapy
* oEducated to Master (radiotherapy) level or equivalent knowledge in area related to role


Experience

* Participation in radiotherapy development work
* Previous NHS experience in Radiotherapy
* Relevant Band 6 Therapeutic Radiographer experience
* Participation in the implementation of a change in practice/new equipment
* Experience using Varian/Aria equipment
* Experience of using Eclipse & Somavision planning systems
* Participation in research


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

* oUnderstanding of CPD requirements of profession
* oSelf‑motivated, has the ability to work as a member of a team, and /or autonomously oEffective personnel management skills, including supervision of junior radiographers, students and other health care workers
* oGood technical skills and manual dexterity
* oOrganisational and decision making skills
* oGood analytical and numerical skills
* oSatisfactory attendance record
* oGood interpersonal and communication skills
*. oAbility to work well within a team environment
* oKnowledge and experience of advanced and complex treatment techniques
* oParticipation in the implementation of new equipment or technology.
* oCore knowledge of the principles of radiotherapy treatment planning and radiation dosimetry as applied to radiotherapy treatments.
* oExcellent anatomical knowledge
* oKnowledge of IR(ME)R 2017 and responsibilities relating to own professional practice
* oGood image interpretation skills
* oAwareness of current trends in radiotherapy
* oParticipation in the implementation of new equipment or technology
* oAttendance of relevant lectures/workshops/study days
