Intervention Teaching Assistant - Year 6

Days: Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)
Hours: 8:00am until 3:30pm
Contract: Long Term Temp to PermLong Term Futures is working with a welcoming, community-centred primary school in Rubery, Birmingham, who are seeking a dedicated Intervention Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 class.
This full-time role is ideal for someone passionate about helping pupils achieve their potential, delivering targeted interventions, and supporting progress in upper Key Stage Two. The role will involve preparing pupils for end-of-key-stage expectations, including SATs, through structured intervention and academic support. It would particularly suit an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to build further expertise in Year 6 attainment, or an ECT seeking valuable classroom and intervention experience in upper Key Stage Two.
Main Responsibilities:
Deliver small-group and one-to-one interventions in Maths and English to close learning gaps
Support pupils in consolidating core skills and building confidence in preparation for end-of-year assessments
Work closely with the Year 6 class teacher to reinforce learning objectives and support progress
Provide targeted support for pupils with SEND, both within lessons and through structured intervention work
Live mark work to provide immediate feedback and adapt support where needed
Assist with keep-up and catch-up tutoring sessions in the afternoons
Promote positive behaviour, resilience and engagement in line with school expectations
Monitor pupil progress and communicate effectively with the class teacher and SENCo
What the School is Looking For:
Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent degree)
Experience working in a Key Stage Two primary setting (Year 5 or Year 6 desirable)
Experience delivering interventions or small-group support in Maths and English
Understanding of Year 6 expectations and SATs preparation
Confidence supporting pupils with SEN, EHCPs and personalised learning plans
Ability to adapt support quickly based on pupil understanding and ongoing assessment
A calm, patient and nurturing approach
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and the SENCo
