Goods Inwards Inspector (12 Month Contract)

Monday to Thursday 8:00am to 4:30pm, Friday 8am to 1pm
£25,600 to £36,200
We are working in partnership with a highly advanced manufacturing business operating within a complex engineering environment to recruit a Goods Inwards Inspector on a 12-month contract.

The Role
Reporting to the Supply Chain Quality Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring that all incoming materials and components meet strict quality, technical, and contractual standards.
Working closely with Quality, Procurement, and Operations teams, you'll help maintain supplier performance and ensure production is supported by compliant, high-quality materials.
Key Responsibilities
* Inspect and verify incoming goods against purchase orders, drawings, and quality standards
* Interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T and critical dimensions
* Carry out detailed inspections (surface finish, damage, defects, etc.)
* Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation
* Ensure full traceability and compliance of all received materials
* Identify and manage non-conforming materials, raising documentation as required
* Support root cause investigations (e.g. 8D, 5 Whys)
* Ensure inspection equipment is calibrated and maintained
* Work to defined inspection turnaround times to support production schedules
* Follow all health & safety and quality procedures
Requirements
Essential:
* Proven experience in a Quality Inspection role within manufacturing or engineering
* Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (including GD&T)
* Hands‑on experience with manual inspection tools and measuring equipment
* Experience using ERP/MRP systems and basic Microsoft Office tools
* Good attention to detail and a methodical approach
Desirable (not essential):
* Engineering qualification (ONC/HNC or similar)
* Experience in aerospace, defence, or highly regulated industries
* Familiarity with AS9100 or similar quality systems
* Exposure to processes such as machining, coatings, or fabrication
