Job Summary
Solihull Special Care Dental Service, in partnership with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, is seeking a Qualified Dental Therapist to join our specialist team on a fixed‑term maternity cover contract. The successful candidate will provide high‑quality special‑care dental treatment to adults and children with additional needs across clinic locations, mobile dental units in schools and domiciliary care settings.
Responsibilities
The role involves:
* Delivering safe, effective dental care to individuals with learning disabilities, medical comorbidities and autism.
* Working independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
* Supporting oral health initiatives and preventive programmes.
Qualifications
Essential
* Full registration with the UK General Dental Council (GDC).
* Dental Therapy qualification and full registration with the NHS Dental Performers List.
* Relevant postgraduate qualifications.
* Clinical experience as a Dental Therapist.
* Experience treating adults and children with additional care needs.
* Experience working independently.
* Portfolio of continuing professional development (CPD).
* Knowledge of clinical governance principles.
* Holder of a full driving licence and access to a car.
Desirable
* Experience within primary/community dental services.
* Knowledge of programmes to prevent oral disease and promote healthy lifestyles.
* Experience in domiciliary care.

Employment Details
Band 6 (NHS Agenda for Change) – 9‑month fixed‑term contract, part‑time (22.5 hours) – Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (flexibility available).
Salary: £39,959 to £48,117 per year.
