Offer description

Cockermouth Town Council has an exciting opportunity for a confident and reliable person to join our small team at the Town Hall on Market Street in Cockermouth. The role involves helping to set up and run the council’s signature events throughout the year and assisting with wedding room hire at the Town Hall.


Responsibilities

* Set up and run the Family fun day, Fireworks display and Christmas lights switch on day.
* Assist wedding room hire – manage booking forms, greet couples upon arrival and operate the music system during ceremonies.
* Maintain the allotment register, manage the waiting list and carry out periodic inspections of the gardens.


Qualifications

* Confident and friendly individual with excellent interpersonal skills.
* Strong administrative skills – proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
* Ability to work independently, communicate clearly and remain calm under pressure.
* Honesty and reliability are essential qualities.

You will receive a generous starting holiday allowance of 23 days per year plus statutory days and bank holidays, with an additional three days after five years of continuous service.

Hours are 25 per week with flexibility and occasional weekend work. Starting salary is £13.69 per hour, potentially rising to £14.35 per hour, subject to satisfactory performance and development.
