AECOM UK is seeking a motivated EC&I Engineer to join our Warrington office. You will be responsible for the delivery of Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) design and engineering within the department. This includes the production of design documentation, design substantiation, and checking the work of other engineers and designers. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to technically challenging projects within a multi-disciplinary environment, with exposure to client-facing responsibilities.
Here’s what you’ll do:
1. Lead and deliver EC&I design and engineering within the department, ensuring high-quality outputs.
2. Produce Functional Design Specifications, Basis of Design, User Requirement Specifications, and associated design documentation.
3. Check and approve drawings and documents from other engineers and designers to ensure compliance with standards and project requirements.
4. Collaborate with mechanical, civil, and process engineers to ensure integrated, multi-disciplinary project delivery.
5. Manage small teams and workload allocation to ensure timely delivery within budget and quality expectations.
6. Maintain a strong focus on Health and Safety in Design.
7. Interface directly with clients, demonstrating professional and technical competence.
Electrical Responsibilities
8. Low voltage electrical distribution design, lighting design, lightning protection, fire alarm systems, normal and emergency lighting.
9. Understanding of interlocking systems.
10. Working knowledge of BS7671 (Essential).
Control & Instrumentation Responsibilities
11. Control system design and instrumentation systems, including loop diagrams and instrument schedules.
12. Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) hardware and software design.
13. I/O, alarm, and trip schedules.
14. Control panel design, including GA’s, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and parts lists.

Qualifications
Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?
Here’s what we’re looking for:
21. Qualified to a minimum of HNC level, with a relevant engineering degree preferred.
22. Working towards Chartered / Incorporated Engineer status.
23. Extensive relevant experience with demonstrable technical knowledge.
24. Competent user of AutoCAD with strong understanding of drawing standards and best practices.
25. Experience in delivering project deliverables within timescales, budgets, and quality expectations.
Preferred Skills / Additional Qualifications
26. Communications systems design (Ethernet, field bus).
27. Experience commissioning or maintaining electrical and control systems.
28. Access and security system design.
29. Knowledge of safety standards (IEC 61508, 61511, 61513).
30. Experience with client-specific standards (e.g., Sellafield, CIBSE, Water Industry).
31. Safety Instrumented Systems configuration.
32. Medium / high voltage electrical distribution design.
33. ATEX requirements.
34. Competent user of Revit, Amtech, and DIALux.
You will also be self-motivated with an ability to work both autonomously where required, with a strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline driven team environment.
