Role: Adult Social Care Lawyer (Locum)Location: South Yorkshire (Hybrid / Remote considered)Rate: £55 - £60 per hourContract: 3-month locumStart: January 2026CRA Consulting is working with a large public sector organisation in South Yorkshire to recruit an experienced Adult Social Care Lawyer for an initial 3-month locum assignment, starting January 2026.This is an excellent opportunity to step into a well-established legal team supporting frontline adult social care services, with a strong pipeline of work and a realistic caseload.The Opportunity Youll provide legal advice and case support across a broad range of adult social care matters, working closely with social care professionals and internal stakeholders to ensure lawful, proportionate and timely decision-making.What youll be doing
* Advising on Care Act 2014 matters
* Handling Court of Protection applications and proceedings
* Advising on Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
* Supporting safeguarding, ordinary residence and funding disputes
* Drafting legal advice, reports and court documentation
* Working collaboratively with social work teams and senior officers
What theyre looking for
* Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or Barrister
* Strong, hands-on Adult Social Care experience (essential)
* Confident handling Court of Protection and mental capacity matters
* Previous local authority or public sector experience preferred
* Able to hit the ground running in a locum setting
Whats on offer
* £55 - £60 per hour (umbrella / PAYE options)
* Initial 3-month contract with potential for extension
* January 2026 start
