Power Generator Engineer – Peterborough Location: Peterborough Salary: Competitive Contract: Permanent Hours: 40 hours per week (08:00–16:30, 30 min unpaid lunch) Role Overview This customer-facing role involves diagnostics, servicing, installation, commissioning, and repair of diesel generator sets and related equipment at customer sites. You will deliver a professional, world-class service while working independently across the territory and liaising with manufacturers and contractors where required. Key Responsibilities * Service, repair, install, and commission diesel generator sets * Attend emergency breakdowns and call-outs * Conduct site surveys and assist with project design * Control system wiring and programming (PLC / Deep Sea / Deif) * Load banking generators of all sizes * Attend relevant technical training * Willingness to work unsociable hours when required Qualifications & Experience * NVQ Level 2 minimum in Plant Engineering or similar * Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background * 18th Edition (beneficial) * Strong experience with hydraulic, electrical, transmission, and control systems * Ability to work independently in a remote role * Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK * Must live within 30 minutes of the depot/territory Skills & Attributes * Strong customer-facing and communication skills * Excellent time management and problem-solving ability * Flexible, motivated, and able to work under pressure * Commercially aware with a professional approach Benefits * Competitive pay with overtime and call-out rates * Company van, fuel card, tools, uniform, mobile, and laptop * Pension, life assurance (4x salary), private medical (contributory) * 22 days holiday bank holidays (plus service-related increases) * Training and career development opportunities * Employee assistance programme and staff discounts
