Madisons Recruitment is seeking an Electrical Designer Engineer on a permanent basis for a reputable medium-sized contractor in Slough, Berkshire. Candidates should have a solid understanding of the electrical industry.
Please note: this role is primarily office-based but may require occasional site visits nationwide. Willingness to travel is essential.
Our client is a successful specialized contractor with over 35 years of experience and more than 350 completed projects across the UK and Europe.
Electrical Designer Responsibilities:
1. Develop GA drawings and produce initial standard drawings, including lighting layouts, schematics (mains & FA), distribution board layouts, and underground ducting drawings.
2. Create drawing issue sheets for related drawings.
3. Review client specifications and produce M&E briefs along with parts lists.
4. Perform calculations for maximum load and initial cable sizing.
5. Coordinate services and builder's work openings with structural elements.
6. Issue drawings to external design teams and monitor deliverable schedules.
7. Act as liaison between the electrical team and external design firms.
8. Assist with site visits and surveys to gather field data and verify design accuracy.
9. Maintain organized project files following company documentation standards.
10. Collaborate with team members to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
11. Review and comment on as-fitted drawings.
Qualifications / Preferred Skills / Experience:
1. 3-5 years of experience working or studying within the electrical industry.
2. At least 2 years of electrical design experience.
3. Familiarity with cable calculation software.
4. Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or other BIM tools is advantageous.
5. Knowledge of lighting calculation software is a plus.
6. Experience with electrical modeling or simulation tools.
7. Qualified at least to Design, Erection, and Verification levels (C&G 2396) or equivalent.
8. Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
9. Ability to work effectively within a team.
10. Understanding of regulations related to electrical installations, FA, CCTV.
11. Knowledge of mechanical services is beneficial.
12. Academic mindset with a positive, motivated attitude.
13. Flexible, eager to learn, and capable of inspiring others.
