To work as a team member providing support to Medical and Nursing Staff as required. The post will include clinical chaperoning, phlebotomy, and microscopy (when trained). Responsibilities include setting up and closing down the clinical area, maintaining stock levels, and supporting clerical duties to help build a flexible workforce.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Preparation of examination rooms and the clinical environment in accordance with the Trust's infection control policy to ensure a clean and safe patient/clinic environment.
2. Assisting with examinations, as directed by the clinician.
3. Chaperone procedures as directed by the clinician.
4. Phlebotomy (with training).
5. Microscopy (with training).
6. Facilitating Test & Go asymptomatic testing lists.
7. Recording routine observations such as weight, blood pressure, and temperature.
8. Assisting patients with dressing and undressing, as necessary.
9. Supporting patients with poor mobility in accordance with manual handling policies.
10. Establishing and maintaining effective communication and relationships with the multidisciplinary team.
11. Removing debris and soiled linen after each clinic to prevent cross-infection, in compliance with Trust policy.
12. Providing cover during staff absence due to holiday or sickness.
13. Maintaining stock items.
14. Dealing with telephone calls courteously.
15. Assisting with essential nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse, according to the care plan.
16. Recognizing individual patient needs and promoting independence and self-management.
17. Explaining the patient journey, including examination procedures and preparation.
18. Understanding normal results and reporting abnormal findings to a qualified nurse.
19. Supervising the maintenance of clinical rooms and ensuring cleanliness and safety.
20. Maintaining stock in conjunction with the lead nurse.
