As a Part-Time Professor, you will develop and deliver curriculum using various engaging and innovative methods, playing a pivotal role in enhancing academic excellence through sound teaching practice.
The School Of Engineering & Technology is seeking qualified professionals to join the Welding Techniques and Welding & Fabrication Technician programs to teach first-year mathematics courses part-time from September 2025 to December 2025, focusing on:
* Trade-related mathematical problem-solving
* Measurement, conversions, fractions, equations
* Practical applications of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
* Statistical tools as measures of central tendency, dispersion, and distribution
Successful candidates will be required to work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as needed. Conestoga offers classes Monday to Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., both in person and online. Part-time Professors typically teach one to two courses, each approximately three to six hours per week over a 14-week term.
Responsibilities
* Ensure program and course curriculum are current, relevant, and reflect best practices in the field
* Design strategies and tools for facilitating and evaluating student progress and achievement
* Conduct scheduled instruction in various formats, including online, classroom, and computer-assisted labs
* Ensure students are aware of course objectives, instructional methods, and evaluation systems
* Evaluate student progress and maintain records of assessments
* Support students in using eConestoga and other learning management systems, and maintain course materials
* Create a positive, inclusive learning environment respecting diverse student backgrounds and learning styles
* Collaborate within the department and across the college
Qualifications
* Two-year diploma in Welding, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field
* Advanced knowledge of mathematical concepts (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, linear equations) and their application in trades
* Prior adult or post-secondary teaching experience preferred
* Experience in curriculum development is an asset
* Proficiency with computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Office, D2L) preferred
* Strong presentation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively
* Ability to support diverse learners, including international students and students requiring accommodations
* Commitment to academic excellence and student success
* Industry contacts and networks are assets
