Main duties of the job
Working closely with the GP Partners, you will lead the nonclinical, business, and operational agenda. You will:
* Drive business strategy, growth, and innovation
* Lead financial management, budgeting, and income optimisation
* Oversee operational performance and governance
* Provide strategic leadership of HR, including recruitment, performance, wellbeing, and workforce planning
* Develop new services, partnerships, and revenue streams
* Reduce operational burden on Partners
* Introduce modern, forward thinking solutions to improve patient and staff experience

Job responsibilities
The Business Manager is the senior strategic and operational leadfor all nonclinical functions of the practice. Working closely with the GPPartners, the post holder will take ownership of the business, financial, andoperational agenda, enabling Partners to focus on delivering high qualityclinical care.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Business Development
* Lead the development and delivery of the practices businessstrategy.
* Identify opportunities for growth, efficiency, innovation, andsustainability.
* Horizon scan for local and national NHS developments, advisingPartners on opportunities and risks.
* Support development of new models of care, partnerships, andrevenue streams.
* Represent the practice at PCN, ICB, and wider system meetings.
* Drive continuous improvement in performance indicators (QOF, IIF,enhanced services).
* Lead responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, and financialgovernance.
* Monitor and optimise income across all NHS and non NHS revenuestreams.
* Ensure accurate and timely claims (CQRS, PCSE, enhanced services).
* Prepare regular financial reports for Partners.
* Identify cost efficiencies and ensure value for money.
* Maintain strong relationships with accountants, banks, andfinancial partners.
3. Operational Management & Governance
* Oversee day to day nonclinical operations.
* Ensure robust systems, processes, and controls are in place.
* Maintain compliance with contractual, regulatory, and governancerequirements (CQC, GDPR, H&S).
* Lead on performance monitoring, risk management, and continuousimprovement.
* Oversee complaints, significant events, and patient safetyprocesses.
* Support digital transformation, IT systems, and telephonyimprovements.
* Provide confident, professional leadership across theorganisation.
* Work collaboratively with Partners, clinicians, and administrativeteams.
* Support a positive culture focused on quality, wellbeing, andcontinuous improvement.
* Act as a key liaison with external stakeholders (PCN, ICB, localproviders).
* Support workforce planning and organisational development.
* Hold overall responsibility for workforce management and staffperformance, ensuring effective systems for appraisal, performance management,sickness absence, and professional development are in place.
* Lead and manage change effectively, ensuring staff engagement andsustainability. Introduce modern, forward thinking approaches to systems and waysof working.
* Champion innovation that improves patient experience and staffsatisfaction.
