Job Summary
Junior Physiotherapist in the Early Supported Discharge team (Stroke) within the Intermediate Care Services at Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust. Closing date 19 June 2026.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver physiotherapy assessment, treatment and evaluation within admission, early supported stroke rehabilitation, frailty virtual ward, re‑ablement and unstable fracture management.
* Manage a caseload of patients with complex or variable needs in a community setting, prioritising clinical needs and providing an equitable service.
* Plan and implement effective assessment and treatment programmes, using confident decision‑making skills and recognised assessment tools.
* Coordinate, implement and monitor patient‑centred goals and modify treatments as progress is measured.
* Apply appropriate understanding of disability, and provide training and advice to patients, carers, voluntary sector and multi‑disciplinary team members.
* Empower patients to be actively involved in self‑management through education, coping strategies and therapeutic procedures.
* Seek advice or support from senior colleagues and other professionals when complex needs arise.
* Identify when physiotherapy is not required and refer appropriately to other services.
* Maintain clinical records accurately and timely within the electronic system, ensuring confidentiality.
* Adhere to NHS policies, Health & Safety, Manual Handling, the Care Quality Commission and trust guidelines.
* Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge and evidence of best practice through CPD, training and supervision.
* Participate in service development, audit, research and quality improvement initiatives.
Professional Development and Supervision
* Engage in regular supervision, appraisal and reflective practice.
* Contribute to induction and training of students and staff.
* Attend CPD and internal/external training as agreed.
Person Specification
Essential:
* BSc (Hons) or recognised qualification in Physiotherapy.
* Registered Physiotherapist with HCPC and Member of the CSP.
* Varied clinical experience as a student physiotherapist.
* Good organisational and prioritising skills; ability to facilitate own and others’ daily work activities.
* Literate in IT / computer skills.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
* Experience in a UK health or social care setting.
* Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable:
* Evidence of CPD and relevant mentorship or supervision training.
* Previous experience in an NHS community or rehabilitation setting.
* Experience supervising staff and students.
* Experience with patients with long‑term conditions or physical impairments.
