Overview
The FM Maintenance Engineer is responsible for delivering a wide range of general building maintenance and repair tasks across multiple client sites. This role supports the Facilities Management Division by ensuring client premises are safe, functional and well maintained. The position is a hybrid role, involving both mobile work across various locations and static shifts at designated client sites during the working week.
Core Responsibilities
* Carry out routine preventative maintenance tasks across various client facilities.
* Undertake general upkeep of buildings, fixtures, fittings and external areas to maintain high standards of presentation and functionality.
* Identify potential maintenance issues and report findings to line management.
Reactive Maintenance and Repairs
* Respond to reactive maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
* Carry out basic fault diagnosis and repairs across a variety of trades including joinery, basic plumbing, minor electrical tasks, fabric repairs, and general maintenance works.
* Ensure minimal disruption to client operations while completing works safely and efficiently.
Site Support and General Duties
* Assist with site set-ups, minor installations, replacements and adjustments as required.
* Support statutory compliance tasks where appropriate, such as basic checks and visual inspections.
* Maintain tools, equipment and company vehicles in good working order.
Client Interaction
* Represent the company professionally while working on client sites.
* Maintain clear and effective communication with clients and site contacts regarding work progress and completion.
* Complete job sheets, timesheets and maintenance records accurately and in line with company procedures.
Skills and Experience
* No formal trade qualifications are required for this role.
* Proven experience in general maintenance, handyman or facilities support is desirable.
* Ability to carry out a range of basic maintenance tasks across multiple disciplines.
* Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, proactive approach to work.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to various client sites across the central belt of Scotland.
* Good communication skills and a professional, customer-focused attitude.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a wider Facilities Management team.
Working Conditions
This role involves a combination of mobile work across multiple client premises and static shifts at designated sites. The role may involve working indoors and outdoors, manual handling, working at heights, and occasional work outside normal working hours to meet operational and client requirements.
