We are seeking to appoint Lecturers on a fixed term basis to plan and deliver across a range of courses within Foundation Studies, particularly focusing on the Access to FE programmes, taking an active role in developing learners’ skills for independence and preparing them for employment or further study. You will also be involved in the development of the programmes within the area.
You will need to possess a degree in a relevant subject area (or minimum Level 3 qualification with substantial teaching experience in Foundation) and have experience of teaching within the Foundation Learning area including Functional Skills, together with up-to-date knowledge of good practice in this area. A Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector would be an advantage.
These posts will initially be based at Uxbridge Campus, however in time it is anticipated you will also be required to work at Barra Hall, Hayes.
MAIN PURPOSE
The main purpose of the job is to ensure the retention and achievement of students through the delivery of good practice in teaching and learning.This involves the teaching and development of a range of subjects across the Foundation Studies curriculum.
DUTIES SPECIFIC TO THE POST
All lecturers have a generic list of duties (see Duties below) and some which are specific to the post holder.These include:-
·To teach on a range of courses within the School of Foundation Studies, focusing on Access to FE programmes
·To prepare students for Edexel and City and Guilds portfolios and Functional Skills exams
·To direct and work with Learning Support Assistants within the classroom
·Toparticipate in residential trips/activity days within Foundation Studies
Qualifications:
·Degree in the relevant subject area (or minimum of Level 3 in a relevant area plus minimum of 2 years' successful experience teaching in Foundation)
·GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or equivalent, or willing to achieve
·Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector, or willingness and ability to work towards one, supported by the College**
