The Mechanical Maintenance Technician role:
We’re seeking a skilled and proactive Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team at our Barnsley site. If you have a strong background in machine repair, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and problem solving, this is an excellent opportunity to take your career further in a dynamic, team-driven environment.
As part of our maintenance team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our production equipment runs efficiently, safely, and reliably. You’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality maintenance support across a variety of plant systems and machinery, contributing directly to our operational success.
The key responsibilities of our Mechanical Maintenance Technician will include:
 1. Perform maintenance and repairs on production plant and equipment
 2. Carry out planned and preventative maintenance (PPM) to minimise downtime
 3. Be able to work well and communicate with on site contractors and remote service engineers
 4. Diagnose and resolve machine breakdowns swiftly and effectively
 5. Fault find on mechanical systems i.e. gearboxes etc.
 6. Have a good understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic circuits
 7. Maintain accurate records and reports within the CMMS system
 8. Manage and monitor stock levels of critical parts and equipment
 9. Mentoring of apprentices
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives on technical challenges and takes pride in keeping operations running smoothly.
In order to succeed in this Mechanical Maintenance Technician role, you will be:
 10. Be a qualified and experienced Maintenance Engineer, holding a minimum of 4 years’ industrial experience and NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
 11. Have prior experience working within a fast-paced engineering or manufacturing environment.
 12. Be able to work a 2 shift rota covering 1 weekend in 2 (7-day operation).
 13. Be computer literate, with proven experience using CMMS systems.
 14. Demonstrate the ability to work independently and use your own initiative to solve problems effectively.
 15. Be flexible and willing to work overtime to support production demands and cover holidays or sickness within the department.
