We are seeking a dedicated and detail‑oriented LTVS Medical Secretary to join our team in the Respiratory Department at Wythenshawe Hospital.
The post-holder will be responsible for managing day‑to‑day operations, including advanced proofreading with medical terminology, ensuring that all letters, reports, and documentation meet Trust and departmental deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
* Sorting and distributing incoming mail (electronic and paper), ensuring that all necessary documentation (e.g., notes, x‑rays, results) is available for medical staff review.
* Processing referrals, prioritising by medical staff, arranging urgent admissions and scheduling investigations/appointments within and outside the Trust.
* Maintaining patient records, including pending files for patients awaiting investigation results and filing signed‑off investigation reports.
* Handling telephone inquiries, liaising with GPs regarding referrals/results, managing consultant waiting lists, and providing professional and caring communication with patients and their relatives/carers.
* Managing diaries, arranging meetings, maintaining stationery stock, processing petty cash, and assisting with the induction and training of new staff. May also take informal minutes and participate in departmental audits.
* Reporting to the Team Leader for Long Term Ventilation and coordinating cross‑cover duties within the team.
This is a part‑time role (30 hours) with opportunities to grow your knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare systems.
