Job Overview

A Locum Consultant in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology is required to support general Obstetrics and Gynaecology Services, both elective and emergency. Candidates wishing to work less than full time, or flexible working, can be considered and would require discussion with the Clinical Director. The role would benefit especially from an interest in Gynae Oncology.

Main Duties of the Job

The post would suit a confident Gynaecological Surgeon with an interest in Gynae Oncology to support and work with the existing team. The ability to perform laparoscopic hysterectomy and outpatient hysteroscopy would be welcome, as would BSCCP accredited training in colposcopy, or special interest training such as vulval disease ATSM.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the non‑resident third on‑call consultant rota, which is currently one in ten weekends and one in six weekday nights, with prospective cover for leave. Out of hours work is paid at Intensity Band Three but this is subject to ongoing review.

The post holder is expected to show a commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as well as supporting the clinical governance activity within the department.

Working for our Organisation

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) is Wales’s largest health organisation, with a budget of over £2.4 billion and a workforce of over 20 000 staff.

BCUHB provides a full range of primary, community, mental health, acute and specialist hospital services for the population of North Wales, across 3 acute hospitals and a network of community hospitals, health centres, clinics, and mental health units. It also coordinates or provides the work of GP practices and NHS services provided by dentists, opticians, and pharmacists across the region.

The Health Board is an integrated health system that strives for excellent, compassionate care delivered in partnership with the public sector and other statutory and third sector organisations.
