We have an opportunity for an experienced Principal/Associate Geotechnical Engineer based in our Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle upon Tyne, Sheffield, Edinburgh or Glasgow office to help support our rapidly expanding workload and impressive portfolio of prestigious geotechnical projects both in the UK and internationally.
We need to increase our team to meet the growing demands from our clients, especially in the infrastructure sector (particularly rail, highways & water) and the energy sector, which includes carbon capture & storage, renewable energy (wind, current and hydropower), low carbon engineering and nuclear power.

Requirements:
The successful applicant will be a Principal/Associate Geotechnical Engineer with a proven technical and project management track record. The role will include mentoring junior staff, so good communication skills are essential.
The candidate will have a degree in civil engineering or geology with a postgraduate qualification in geotechnical engineering and post-chartered status, as either a geologist or civil engineer.
Candidates should have the drive and ability to develop and expand our infrastructure geotechnics capability by building on the existing portfolio of our rapidly expanding, flexible, and outward-looking team capable of tackling work across a broad spectrum of sectors.
Candidates should have:
* Proven design experience in sectors such as highways, rail, or water geotechnics.
* A strong academic background with a relevant degree (preferably MSc or equivalent) and Chartered status.
* Experience in senior roles within fast-paced engineering consultancy environments.
* Project management experience, including client relationships, work planning, and commercial management.
* Knowledge of CDM Regulations in a design and ground investigation context.
* Excellent interpersonal, technical, and communication skills, with the ability to lead design teams and liaise confidently with clients.
* Strong report writing skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
* Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas for short assignments, holding a valid UK driving licence.
