We recognise that there is a significant amount to do in this regard and are looking for a highly capable data leader to shape and drive the data agenda forward. You will be comfortable building the team; establishing policies and procedures; developing data architecture; improving data quality; leveraging technology; and, most importantly, bringing the rest of the business along with you. The Chief Data Officer will primarily be responsible for establishing and governing the company's master data on key assets such as vessels, equipment, crew, among others. This role involves creating a robust and compliant data infrastructure, maintaining data integrity, and promoting a culture that values data accuracy and accessibility. Key responsibilities and primary deliverables Engaging with senior management to understand their business needs and establishing a strong data-driven approach to decision-making across the organisation Formulate and implement a data governance strategy and framework to manage data throughout its lifecycle aligned with the company’s business objectives. Being the chief advisor to senior management on all data issues across the portfolio, ensuring data is managed as a strategic asset and acting as the Subject Matter Expert on data across the business. Oversee the establishment and maintenance of master data (vessels, equipment, crew, etc.), ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across all systems. Collaborate with different teams to identify data needs and ensure the reliability of master data. Ensure compliance with data privacy laws and standards, and implement data governance principles. Direct the development and maintenance of data dictionaries, and define data standards, policies, and procedures. Work with IT and data teams to design and implement data architecture, systems and tools that enhance data collection, storage, and retrieval. Foster a data-focused culture within the organization, training and supporting teams in utilising master data effectively. Regularly review and audit the master data to maintain quality and resolve any discrepancies. Act as the primary point of contact and communicate with stakeholders regarding all data-related matters. Delivering a step change in data quality and building effective Data Quality Management practices into business processes Implementing data analytics effectively, identifying and building the business intelligence tools and capabilities that create insights from data which improve commercial return. Ensuring compliance with data protection and privacy regulations Knowledge of relevant applications, big data solutions, and tools Skills profile You will be an experienced data leader used to transforming all data aspects of a successful business transitioning away from legacy technologies. Relevant experience & education Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field, Master's degree preferred. Proven experience as a Chief Data Officer, Data Manager, or similar executive role with a focus on master data management. Deep understanding of data management best practices, including data governance, quality, and privacy. Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills. Experience with relevant data management and visualization tools. Ability to translate complex data-related issues into understandable terms for non-technical stakeholders.
