Offer description

Organisation Squash Wales Salary 0 Location Work from home with some travel to Cardiff head office Contract type Volunteer (Part time) Closing date 31 March 2026 Job Description Squash Wales are looking for a new Commercial Director (NED)

Following inclusion in the Olympics for the first time and the path to qualification now confirmed, combined with record prize money on the PSA World Tour, there has never been a better time to help grow and drive the success of squash in Wales.

As home to the best player in the UK, Squash Wales are on a mission to create a sustainable environment where everyone can reach their potential within all aspects of a vibrant squash community. So, whether you aspire to be the next Joel Makin, Tesni Evans, or just enjoy getting active and having fun whilst doing it, we are here to make it happen for our members.
To help us, we need a new Commercial Director with skills to utilise our existing and future assets to diversify our income stream and develop new revenue sources. Success in building partnerships with businesses and securing external grants and sponsorships, particularly within Wales will be strong indicators of success in the role.
Previous board experience, or squash playing experience is not essential and an induction and onboarding process is in place for those joining a board for the first time.

We are particularly open to expressions of interest from candidates who have not previously served in a board role but who can demonstrate the skills and competencies necessary to contribute to Squash Wales’s 2025-2030 strategy.
Board Roles
Board roles are non-salaried, but travel and any other reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed for attendance at official meetings and events on behalf of Squash Wales. The time commitment is variable throughout the year, but it is expected Board members are available to advise paid staff within their area of expertise and commit to attending four annual board meetings, three of which are held online. One meeting per year (normally September), is held in person in Cardiff. The initial term of office is 3 years.
Board members provide specialist advice and support using their professional skills to benefit the organisation. By taking an active role on the Board, they will work with other Board members, as well as the Office Manager and Head of Performance and Participation, to manage Squash Wales with excellence and assist with the delivery our strategy.
How to express interest in joining the Squash Wales Board
Squash Wales is an equal opportunities organisation and all applicants are treated equally and fairly. We are committed to having a diverse team who can bring their lived experiences into this role. Therefore, we actively encourage those who identify as female, as having a disability, as LGBTQ+ or individuals from ethnically diverse backgrounds to express interest in joining our board
