Who are we looking for?
At Barrie Knitwear, we are proud to produce luxury cashmere garments of exceptional quality using industry-leading technology and craftsmanship. We are currently looking for an experienced and motivated Knitter to join our knitting team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with state-of-the-art Shima Seiki machinery within a highly skilled manufacturing environment. Contributing to the production of world‑class garments for globally recognised luxury brands.
We are seeking someone with previous knitting experience, ideally within a textile manufacturing environment, who has a strong technical mindset and takes pride in producing high‑quality work. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, reliable, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively with internal stakeholders.

What will you be doing?
As an Experienced Knitter, you will play a key role within our knitting department, operating and monitoring Shima knitting machines to ensure the efficient production of high‑quality garment panels to specification. Key duties summarised below:
* Operate and monitor Shima Seiki knitting machines to produce garment panels to specification and quality standards
* Set up machines for production runs, including yarn preparation and programme loading
* Identify and resolve minor machine faults and knitting issues to minimise downtime
* Carry out quality inspections on knitted panels to ensure consistency and accuracy
* Monitor yarn feeds, tensions, and machine performance throughout production
* Work closely with technicians, mechanics, and production teams to achieve production targets
* Maintain accurate production and quality records
* Ensure housekeeping and machine cleanliness standards are maintained
* Support continuous improvement initiatives within the knitting department
* Follow all company health & safety procedures and manufacturing standards
* Assist with training and supporting less experienced team members
* Contribute to efficient workflow and help meet delivery deadlines

* Previous experience operating Shima Seiki knitting machinery
