Adults Social Care Debt Support Officer Location: Hampshire Contract: Temporary (6 months) Salary: £20.59 umbrella / £18.67 PAYE Inclusive / £16.66 PAYE Exclusive Start Date: ASAP Contact: rachel.burgess@servicecare.org.uk Job Description Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in Hampshire for a Debt Support Officer to join the Adults Social Care team on a temporary basis. The postholder will work closely with clients, their representatives, ASC professionals and the Financial Assessments and Benefits Team, taking a holistic approach in dealing with money matters to support clients in finding the most effective way to regain control of finances. Key Responsibilities Manage a caseload of Adult Social Care clients, delivering supportive and inclusive debt recovery while prioritising client wellbeing. Conduct visits (home, residential settings, or community locations) to assess financial circumstances and provide tailored advice on debt, budgeting, and welfare benefits. Deliver front-line customer service, including handling queries, processing payments, resolving disputes, and liaising with care providers. Identify risks such as financial abuse or safeguarding concerns, taking appropriate action and referring to relevant services where necessary. Candidate Criteria Proven experience in debt recovery, financial assessment, or a similar front-line customer service role. Strong knowledge of Adult Social Care, including an understanding of the Care Act 2014 and welfare benefits systems. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism. Strong organisational and analytical skills, including experience with financial systems, data analysis, and managing workloads to deadlines.
