Job Purpose
The UK & I Asset Management department is a growing team responsible for delivering financial support services under Management Service Agreements (MSAs) across clients with renewable assets including wind farms, solar farms, and storage farms. The team acts as an outsourced finance business partner, handling tasks such as management accounts, cashflow forecasts, budget preparation, bank loan compliance, financial statement preparation, audit management, and tax oversight. Maintaining a strong control environment and professional skepticism is essential. The department manages over 150 companies with a team of 22 across 12 clients. An additional junior management accountant is needed to handle the day-to-day financial activities of several legal entities, ensuring timely completion of management accounts, statutory accounts, and compliance with IFRS, FRS 101, and FRS 102 standards. The role involves interacting with internal teams, external auditors, and clients, and supporting ad hoc projects and team members.
Organisational Context
The Asset Management department oversees wind, solar, and storage assets in the UK and Ireland, providing technical, financial, and commercial asset management services. The finance team ensures compliance and supports the broader Asset Management team.
Key Accountabilities
* Preparation of monthly management accounts including journal entries
* Managing and delivering cash flow forecasts in coordination with asset managers and clients
* Debtor management for entities
* Financial reporting and variance analysis for internal and external stakeholders
* Submission of VAT returns
* Assisting in budget and forecast preparations
* Supporting statutory accounts preparation and audits for SPV companies, ensuring compliance with relevant standards
* Onboarding new projects into the asset management portfolio
* Contributing to process improvements in accounting and reporting
* Responding to operational queries
* Business partnering with asset managers for reporting and information sharing
Knowledge and Skills Required
* Strong accounting knowledge and understanding of management and statutory accounting
* Familiarity with IFRS, FRS 102, FRS 101, and UK GAAP (preferable but not essential)
* Proven experience in producing detailed management accounts
* Excellent Excel skills and willingness to improve (e.g., SUMIF, SUMPRODUCT)
* Attention to detail and technical accounting skills
* Quick learner with minimal supervision
* Proactive attitude with focus on continuous improvement
* Effective communication skills for engaging with external and non-finance stakeholders
* Ability to work autonomously and prioritize tasks effectively
* Problem-solving skills
Experience and Qualifications
* Experience in management accounting routines within a commercial organization
* Experience with ERP systems
* Experience communicating with non-financial stakeholders
* Experience in statutory financial statements is preferred but not essential
* Part-qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
* Graduate with accounting studies and relevant work experience
