Hire Desk ControllerSpeedy Hire | Nexus Point, Birmingham (B6 7AF)Speedy are the UK's leading hire provider, offering the widest range of tools, specialist hire equipment, plant, and support services – everything for every job.Working HoursStart: 07:30Finish: 17:0042 hours per weekAbout the RoleBased within our busy depot, the Hire Desk Controller plays a vital role at the heart of our operations. Acting as the key link between our customers and internal teams, you will manage the full hire process from initial enquiry through to delivery and collection.This is a fast-paced, customer-focused role where relationship building, organisation, and communication are essential. You will work closely with multiple departments to ensure customer needs are met efficiently and to the highest standard.Day-to-Day ResponsibilitiesTaking inbound customer enquiries via phone and email and processing hire orders accuratelyManaging the full hire lifecycle, from quotation and order placement through to delivery, off-hire, and collectionCoordinating with depot teams including stock controllers, drivers, and engineers to ensure equipment availability and timely deliveryMonitoring order progress and proactively resolving any issues or delaysProviding customers with updates, handling queries, and ensuring a high level of service at all timesScheduling deliveries and collections, ensuring efficient use of transport resourcesChecking equipment availability and suggesting suitable alternatives where requiredUpdating internal systems with accurate order and customer informationBuilding strong working relationships with both internal teams and external customersSupporting depot operations by ensuring all processes run smoothly and efficientlyIdentifying opportunities to improve service delivery and contribute to team performanceWhat We're Looking ForStrong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks at onceExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenA flexible and adaptable approach in a fast-paced environmentA willingness to learn and develop within the roleA full UK driving licencePrevious experience within the hire industry or a similar sales or operational role is desirableA commitment to supporting the ESG Strategy – Decade to DeliverTraining and DevelopmentWe will provide everything you need to succeed in this role.
