University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is recruiting for the position of Advanced Assistant Technical Officer - Technical Services in Pharmacy Technical Services for maternity leave cover.
The MHRA licensed 'Specials' pharmacy manufacturing unit is based at Royal Stoke University Hospital. The service includes aseptic, chemotherapy and pre-pack (over labeling and repackaging products) supplying both the Trust and external organisations. The department strives to re-engineer our services to improve patient-focused pharmaceutical care and customer satisfaction.
Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated Advanced Assistant Technical Officer to work with our team in Pharmacy Technical Services. The successful candidate will work within our Aseptic and Chemotherapy unit and will be required to set up and prepare medicines made within Pharmacy Technical Services. The post holder will be expected to understand and follow standard operating procedures. The role includes undertaking relevant training, both external and internal in aspects of Pharmacy Services and associated technical activities where required. In addition, the post holder will be required to assist with the operation and maintenance of quality systems ensuring compliance with the terms of the MHRA Manufacturing "Specials" Licence regarding all compounding and manufacturing processes. Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
* BTEC or NVQ level 3 in Pharmaceutical Services or equivalent Or NVQ level 2 in Pharmaceutical Services or Pharmacy manufacturing with additional substantial experience equivalent to BTEC or NVQ3 Or Degree in a relevant related science
* Five GCSE's grade C/4 or above (including English, Maths and Science)
* Willing to undertake the Science Manufacturing Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Course
* A levels in a science related field
* APDM via Leeds University / TSET or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience
* Substantial recent experience of working as an SATO within an aseptic unit preparing injectable medicines
* Preparation of aseptic products, including chemotherapy, CIVAs and monoclonal antibodies
* Stock control experience
* Team Working
* Experience of working with standard operating procedures
* IT Skills
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to investigate queries, taking action if appropriate
* Ability to prioritise own workload and work as part of a team
* Flexibility with regard to change in work schedules
* Awareness of Health and safety issues including COSHH
* Knowledge, application and understanding of standard operating procedures, quality management systems and good manufacturing practice.
* Good organisational and prioritisation skills.
* Previous manufacturing experience at an NHS MHRA licensed facility.
* Training in Good Clinical Trials Practice (GCP)
* Experience /understanding working within the pre-packing units
* Knowledge of current advances/issues within aseptic services
