Volunteer Role: Social Media Assistant
Location: Salford (in-person meetings twice per month)

About The Role:
Salford Pride is seeking a dedicated and proactive Volunteer Social Media Assistant to support our Board of Trustees in managing and growing our social media presence.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about LGBTQ+ inclusion, digital engagement, and community-led events. We are looking for someone who can commit consistently and long-term to the role, this position requires reliability, accountability, and genuine dedication.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the management of Salford Pride's social media platforms, maintaining professionalism and discretion at all times
Schedule posts using social media scheduling software to promote events, campaigns, and activities
Create engaging stories for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok
Encourage engagement and grow followers by sharing relevant community content
Respond to messages and comments, signposting inquiries to the appropriate team members
Monitor and manage inappropriate communications under guidance from the Head of Marketing & Branding
Assist in developing and delivering online campaigns, including video content for key LGBTQ+ awareness dates
Collaborate with the Design Assistant and Content & Media Assistant to produce artwork and campaign materials
Support website updates to ensure it remains informative, educational, and up to date
Incorporate trustee feedback and amend designs/content where required prior to publication
Essential Skills & Experience:
Experience managing or supporting social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
Confident using scheduling tools and content planning systems
Basic design skills and experience using Canva
Strong written communication skills with attention to tone and inclusivity
Ability to engage respectfully and professionally online
Good organisational and time-management skills
Ability to work collaboratively and respond positively to constructive feedback
Basic website updating knowledge (desirable but not essential)
Passion for LGBTQ+ equality and community engagement
