About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Liverpool FC team as an Apprentice, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) in the Finance Department.

You will support the FP&A team with aspects of financial planning and analysis, aligned to the key deadlines and deliverables of the team with a strong focus on club wide financial analysis across Commercial, Operations and Football areas.

What will you be doing?

1. Work collaboratively across the FP&A and Finance team to ensure that we are working towards aligned goals and standards.
2. Commitment to work towards and complete training, exams and work relating to the Level 7 Apprenticeship and CIMA qualification
3. Taking a proactive approach to data collation and production, ensuring we understand trends in data / spends and is escalated as required.
4. Support the FP&A team as a whole in order to continuing look for best practice, new ways of working and continuous improvement.
5. Supporting with financial analysis and data to support the team with a commitment to timely and accurate provision of information to support monthly forecast processes as well as annual budget and multi year forecast processes.
6. Take ownership of monthly provision of Payroll actual data, to ensure Finance Business Partners can fully understand any key movements by person, department and division on a monthly basis, to feed into the forecast process.
7. Support the team through the collation of data and information for the monthly reporting packs as well as regular Matchday flash reporting and any other adhoc requests.
8. Support of the Finance Business Partners when required in all aspects of financial data, KPI’s, budget and forecast information to enable better decision making and ensure financial control within the business.
9. Support the team with any Capex information required in order to ensure that we have an updated actualised position on a monthly basis.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong academic background (will hold either lower-level accountancy or tax qualification, be degree educated, or have related finance work experience) and excellent numerical skills, complemented by a keen attention to detail. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a proactive approach to gathering feedback across all levels of the organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is essential—though additional training and support will be provided as needed.

The role requires effective multitasking and the ability to manage competing priorities within tight deadlines. A collaborative mindset is key, as the position involves building strong relationships across various teams. Additionally, the candidate should be capable of deriving insights from diverse data sources and supporting Financial Business Partners with informed recommendations.
