Job Title: Food Technician
Location: Sevenoaks
Type: Full-time, Permanent (Term-time only – 39 weeks)
Salary: £25,252 FTE (£22,010.84 pro rata)
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Food Technician to support a busy and dynamic Food Technology department. The role involves assisting teachers with lesson delivery, preparing materials and ingredients, and providing general administrative and organisational support.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare classrooms, equipment, and ingredients for Food Technology lessons
* Support teachers and students during practical sessions
* Order, check, and manage stock in line with the curriculum and budget
* Maintain hygiene standards, safety procedures, and accurate records (including allergy data)
* Ensure safe storage, use, and disposal of food and equipment
* Assist with classroom displays, departmental events, and extracurricular activities
* Help organise departmental resources, calendars, and projects (e.g. herb garden)
* Liaise with staff during absences and support general departmental administration
Requirements
* GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths
* Good organisational, communication, and IT skills (Word, Excel; Photoshop desirable)
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise tasks
* Experience working with young people or in a similar environment is desirable
