MIU Practitioner – Helston

Helston Minor Injuries Unit has a vacancy for a Band 6 MIU Practitioner providing a service for a diverse patient group every day of the year.
You need to have a passion for minor injury care, good communication skills, and a commitment to providing the highest standard of care as part of a small team. A sound knowledge of professional issues will be required.
You need to have a recognised qualification and experience of working with patients in Minor Injury/ Urgent Care settings as well as having an IRMER qualification.
You must be responsive to change and flexible in your approach as we are in an exciting period of development for the MIU service.
On occasion there is an expectancy to support other Minor Injury Units across the Trust, particularly within the West locality.
Eligibility
This job is currently only open to people who already work for the NHS in Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly.

Main Duties
* Deliver, without supervision, effective assessment and treatment of patients using an evidence‑based approach.
* Responsible for the care needs, the management of treatment and evaluation of clinical interventions, reflecting the needs of patients attending the unit.
* Responsible and accountable for the delivery of patient care in the unit.
Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
* Current professional registration – NMC, HCPC.
* Post‑graduate specialist training to degree level in relevant subject area, which must incorporate minor illness.
* Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations certificate.
* Substantial post‑registration practice in MIU, ED/Emergency Care or similar; education and training including mentorship.
* Evidence of managing a team/service.
Skills and Knowledge
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* An ability to act calmly in emergencies and respond in a professional manner.
* A strong team player able to motivate and engage positively with colleagues.
