Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our Senior Biomedical Scientist Team as an Advanced Practitioner in Cellular Pathology. Located at Lincoln County Hospital, the department delivers a centralised Histopathology service for Lincolnshire's two NHS Trusts and their five main hospital sites, receiving in the region of 65,000 requests per annum. The laboratory provides a UKAS-accredited service which includes Paraffin wax Histology, Diagnostic Cytopathology, Morphological staining, Special Staining, Immunocytochemistry and Whole Slide Imaging. The directorate has also deployed molecular diagnostics.
We welcome applications from experienced Advanced Practitioners and from Specialist BMS with experience of dissection who aspire to develop into a Dissection role. The successful candidate will be supported in completing the IBMS DEP in Histology Dissection.

Responsibilities
* Deliver complex specimen dissection under the guidance of our Consultant Pathologist team within a team of Advanced Practitioner Biomedical Scientists.
* Supervise specimen reception and the dissection area and support the training of Band 5 & 6 Biomedical Scientists to dissect RCPath/IBMS category A to C samples.
* Support the management team to deliver the Directorate's Quality Management requirements and ensure continued successful UKAS accreditation.
* Support continuous improvement activities and service improvements using Lean management principles.
* Fully support the seven-day service as a senior member of the team.
Qualifications and Skills
* Good communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.
* Previous experience of staff training is desirable and experience of supporting accreditation to ISO 15189 standards.
* Advanced Practitioner Biomedical Scientist or Specialist BMS with experience of dissection; intent to develop into a Dissection role; willingness to progress IBMS DEP in Histology Dissection.
