Role Purpose
The Temporary Works Co-Ordinator (TWC) is responsible for coordinating, managing, and ensuring the safe control of all temporary works activities on a live rail project in London. The role ensures that temporary works are designed, implemented, inspected, and removed in accordance with relevant standards, procedures, and rail industry requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Temporary Works Management
Coordinate all temporary works activities in line with BS 5975 and company Temporary Works Procedures
Maintain the Temporary Works Register and ensure it is kept up to date
Ensure temporary works designs are received, reviewed, approved, and implemented correctly
Confirm that all temporary works are installed in accordance with approved designsSafety & Compliance
Ensure temporary works are planned and executed safely within a live rail environment
Liaise with construction teams to ensure compliance with HS2 standards, CDM Regulations, and site-specific rules
Ensure inspections are carried out at key stages and recorded appropriately
Stop works if temporary works are unsafe or non-compliantCoordination & Communication
Act as the key interface between Temporary Works Designers, Site Teams, Engineers, and Subcontractors
Brief site teams on temporary works requirements and limitations
Attend design reviews, site meetings, and safety briefings as requiredDocumentation & Records
Ensure permits, check certificates, inspection records, and design documentation are correctly controlled
Support audits and inspections by the client, principal contractor, or regulatory bodies

Formwork and falsework
Propping and temporary support to structures
Access scaffolding and working platforms
Temporary access, fencing, and haul routes
Temporary protection to live rail assets
Essential Requirements
Qualifications & Certification
Temporary Works Co-Ordinator (TWC) certification (CITB or equivalent)
Relevant construction or engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent experience)
PTS/CSCS (or ability to obtain)
SMSTS or SSSTSExperience
Proven experience as a TWC on rail infrastructure projects
Strong understanding of BS 5975, CDM Regulations, and rail safety standards
Experience working in live operational rail environments
