Working closely with a multidisciplinary team,their primary function is to coordinate and streamline the patients carepathway from admission to discharge, ensuring they receive the highest standardof trauma care. This will also involve discussion with our surrounding tertiaryunits to ensure safe and direct transfer. This senior nursing role requiresextensive experience in Emergency or Trauma nursing.
Main duties of the job
To coordinate and facilitate effective pathways of care forpatients optimising their safetyand wellbeing.
To perform daily review of all inpatients identified asMajor Trauma.
To work as a key senior member of the trauma team under thedirection and guidance of the lead clinician and nurse to provide a coordinatedservice with excellentcare for patients.
To maintain an excellent knowledge base that reflectscontemporary issues in trauma care and trauma nursing.
Act as a single point of contact for patients, familymembers and carers, and the healthcareprofessionals involved in their care.
Provide highly specialised advice to the patient, family andcarers regarding the managementof trauma related conditions.
Provide information on how the hospital and the traumasystem works (major trauma centres, trauma units, teams etc.)

Knowledge and Awareness
* Knowledge of clinical governance issues and processes.
* Knowledge to provide both professional and clinical supervision.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse.
* Educated to degree level or equivalent.
* Completion of NMTNG approved Level 2 course.
* Teaching/ mentorship course or qualification.
* Leadership Training.
Experience
* Extensive post graduate clinical experience in affiliated specialty (ED, Major Trauma, Orthopaedics, Neurosurgery, cardiothoracics).
* Experience of teaching/ mentoring.
* Experience of staff management and coordination in a trauma environment.
* Experience in audit/ quality improvement.
* Competent in Advanced Life Support (ALS).
