MCS Group are working with the Southern Health and Social Care Trust (SHSCT) to recruit a Specialist Biomedical Scientist (Band 6) to join their Pathology Laboratory team based at Craigavon Area Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for an HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist with a specialist background in Clinical Biochemistry to work within a fast-paced acute laboratory environment supporting high-quality diagnostic services. Key Responsibilities Perform and interpret a wide range of routine and specialist diagnostic tests within Clinical Biochemistry. Ensure analytical accuracy through quality control procedures and first-line troubleshooting of laboratory equipment. Communicate results effectively to clinicians, including within emergency and out-of-hours settings. Support the supervision and training of Trainee Biomedical Scientists and Medical Laboratory Assistants. Contribute to SOP development, audits, quality assurance and continuous service improvement. Participate in shift work, weekends, night duty and on-call rota requirements as required. Essential Criteria HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist. Minimum 1 year post-registration experience. Completion of Specialist Portfolio in Clinical Biochemistry. Strong understanding of laboratory quality standards, including ISO 15189 and GDPR. Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills. Full UK driving licence and access to transport (reasonable adjustments considered where applicable). Desirable Previous experience working independently/out of hours within a laboratory setting.
