Applications are invited for the post of Locum Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with Specialist Interest in Hip Surgery. We seek enthusiastic, committed, and driven consultants to work closely with colleagues across the organisation and community to lead our services.
Our Trust is dedicated to career development and aims to recruit proactive, motivated, forward-thinking, and dynamic individuals. This position supports our ongoing development of Trauma and Orthopaedic services, expanding to meet increasing demand and complexity in orthopaedic trauma and hip surgery. Candidates should have expertise in general orthopaedic trauma and all aspects of hip surgery.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have a job plan with both fixed clinical and flexible theatre sessions, agreed in advance. They will work with existing Consultants to provide high-quality services.

Person Specification
Skills (Essential):
* Engagement with clinical governance, error identification, and learning from errors
* Engagement with appraisal and revalidation processes
Qualifications / Training (Essential):
* Entry on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT, or GMC eligibility for Specialist Register
* FRCS Tr & Orth or equivalent
* Higher Trauma and Orthopaedic training
* Postgraduate degree related to Orthopaedics (e.g., Masters, MD, PhD)
* Fellowship in Hip Surgery
* Broad trauma and orthopaedic experience
* Management of complex peri-prosthetic hip trauma
* Experience supervising trainees and colleagues
* Ability to provide independent diagnostic opinions
* Experience leading patient safety initiatives and practice changes
* Published research in peer-reviewed journals
* Understanding of audit, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement
* Active participation in research and development
* Orthopaedic Trauma experience in a UK Major Trauma Centre
* Orthopaedic Trauma and Hip Surgery experience as a Locum or Consultant
