Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist
Location: Waterloo Lodge School – Chorley PR6 7AX
Salary: Up to £53,200 FTE DOE (basic grade SALT offers from £33,000+, Specialist from £39,500+ & highly specialist from £48,000+)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week 8.30am - 4.30pm (part‑time hours may be considered)
Contract: Permanent (term‑time only, or flexible full‑time based on circumstances)
Essential: Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle

The Role
As a Speech and Language Therapist on our multidisciplinary clinical team, you will deliver bespoke assessment and intervention to pupils who have experienced developmental trauma, are neuro‑divergent or meet SEMH needs. You will work under the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working, maintaining a person‑centred, empowering approach. Responsibilities include holding a caseload, contributing to staff training and consultation, and collaborating with the education team in a safe and safeguarding‑focused environment.
Essential Criteria
* Degree or Masters in Speech and Language Therapy
* HCPC registered
* Experience engaging with individuals presenting complex and diverse communication profiles
* Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice
* Experience of multidisciplinary work in varied settings
* Experience communicating with families, relatives and carers
* Interest in developing knowledge in diverse SaLT areas
* Strong relationship‑building, analytical and judgement skills
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Good time‑management and organisational skills
* Competence in core SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards
* Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, intervention types and formulation of support plans
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and its impact on clinical practice and professional management
* Capability to work collaboratively with the multi‑disciplinary team
* Willingness to attend training and pursue further qualifications relevant to the client group
* Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
Desirable
* Understanding of sensory and motor factors that influence communication strengths, differences and needs
* Evidence of understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication
