Transmissions Senior Design Engineer

A Transmissions Senior Design Engineer is required to join an engineering team working on the design and development of light helicopters for the global market. The company designs, develops and manufactures their products in the UK. With extensive financial backing and a growing order book they are seeking to grow their engineering team and require a Transmissions Design Engineer to join their team. The Transmissions Senior Design Engineer will work with an engineering team to develop mechanical design schemes and detailed designs of helicopter transmission components and assemblies.
The Transmissions Senior Design Engineer will use PTC Creo to produce and detail component and assembly models and the associated drawings. A hands‑on approach, can‑do attitude and the ability to challenge mainstream thinking constructively and energetically are essential.

Responsibilities
* Develop mechanical design schemes and detailed designs of various transmission parts and assemblies.
* Carry out the design and development of transmission systems.
* Carry out concept development for mechanical systems.
* Use hand calculations, simulation methods, modelling tools and CAE tools to size, analyse and optimise system elements.
* Carry out concept design of mechanical systems using PTC Creo.
* Develop part and system testing plans.
* Support in‑house prototype build.
Qualifications
* BSc/BEng in Engineering (or equivalent experience).
* Proven mechanical design experience.
* Proficient in modelling parts and assemblies in CAD.
* Proficient in carrying out engineering calculations and the use of modelling and simulation software (Mathcad, ANSYS or similar). Gear analysis software would be beneficial.
* Excellent knowledge of detailed gear design and manufacturing methods.
* Bearing design/specification experience is essential.
* Experience in developing mechanical systems from concept to reality.
