As a Clinical Photographer you will provide high‑quality clinical photographs for patients’ medical records, teaching and publication, and create public‑relations images for the Trust’s communications team.
Main Duties of the Job
* Produce standardised, high‑quality clinical photos for use in medical records, teaching and publication.
* Work from a dedicated studio, on wards, in surgical theatres or outpatient clinics.
* Photograph a wide range of clinical subjects including dermatology, chronic wounds, non‑accidental injuries, dental/facial reconstructions and pre‑ and post‑operative surgery.
* Create public‑relations images for the Trust’s communications team and external partners (e.g., good‑news stories, recruitment campaigns, stock imagery).
Job Responsibilities (Trainee)
* Receive a percentage of band 5 salary and undertake fully funded on‑job training to achieve a Post‑Graduate Certificate in Clinical Photography.
* Demonstrate evidence of compassion and care within a work environment.
* Show entry‑level knowledge of the Clinical Photographer role through self‑led research.
* Provide examples of computer literacy and proficiency with digital photography and image‑management software.
* Evidence of experience in a Clinical Photography department or NHS patient‑care setting is desirable.
Person Specification
Qualifications / Education
* Degree in Medical Illustration, Clinical Photography or Photography with additional Clinical Photography knowledge and experience.
* Evidence of continued professional development.
Experience
* Experience in clinical, general or scientific photography.
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
* High computer literacy and in‑depth knowledge of digital photography and image‑management software.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Wide knowledge of clinical and general photographic techniques and procedures.
* Sound knowledge of clinical conditions, anatomy and physiology.
* Demonstrated compassion, care, and commitment to patient welfare.
* Ability to produce standardised and demonstrative clinical photographs.
* Experience in producing public‑relations photographs.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
Post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires DBS check.
Salary and Working Conditions
* £32,073 to £39,043 per annum (Band 5 or Trainee Band 5), pro rata.
* Permanent contract, full‑time.
* Working pattern: flexible within the Trust’s schedule.
