We have an opportunity to join the Pharmacy team at the Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Trust as Governance Lead and Trust Medication Safety Officer on a fixed term basis. This is a key post to improve our learning culture and collaboration with partners in primary to deliver the safest possible care for our patients.

We have an opportunity to join the Pharmacy team at the Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Trust as Governance Lead and Trust Medication Safety Officer on a fixed term basis. This is a key post to improve our learning culture and collaboration with partners in primary to deliver the safest possible care for our patients.

As a direct report to the Director of Pharmacy you will be a key member of the Pharmacy Leadership Team, providing input and leadership to the Trust Patient Safety agenda as we integrate the emerging Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) locally and across the wider health system.

Main duties of the job


* Leads the delivery and development of all aspects of the medication safety agenda across the trust
* Ensure systems are in put in place to improve and learn from medication safety events
* Lead on the integration of medicines safety into the Trust PSIRF agenda
* Working with (and managing) the Pharmacy Governance Team, Trust Medication Safety Group and lead clinicians and practitioners to drive change and improvement within the Trust regarding medication safety.
* Develop, implement and monitor standards for safe and secure medicines use.
* Collaborate with ICB partners to interpret national and local agendas, and influence the focus of medicines clinical governance across the integrated care system
* Develop education and training materials including reports relating to the management of medicines in the Trust and undertake research and audit to support innovative practice and sustain robust medicines management systems and processes.
* Oversee the Pharmacy medication advice service

Qualifications

Essential criteria

* Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician with General Pharmaceutical Council (UK) registration
* Demonstrable evidence of reflection on practice and Continuing Professional Development
* Senior Leadership accreditation (NHS Leadership Academy or equivalent)

Desirable criteria

* Management Qualification or additional specialist management knowledge acquired through training and experience to Masters level or equivalent
* Member of the APTUK, RPS, UKCPA or other expert body
* Formal management Training

Knowledge and experience

Essential criteria

* Pharmacy leadership experience at 8a grade level or above (or equivalent) in a provider setting
* Operational and staff management plus senior/middle management training
* Experience of service redesign and use of tools and techniques for assessing the impact of change
* Knowledge of operational and legal requirements or standards for Pharmacy and medicines
* Demonstrable track record of action to improve or promote equality, diversity and inclusion and cultural competency in healthcare

Desirable criteria

* Experience of involving patients and/or customers in service developments.

Leadership

Essential criteria

* Experience of managing and actively participating in programmes of continuous improvement and change management in complex environments
* Ability to influence others, motivate staff and manage change

Desirable criteria

* Ability to initiate and direct research

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
